We have been using Myanmar seafarers on our vessels for many years now and the move to establish our own office where we can invest further in training and welfare is consistent with our long term commitment to our seafarers and Myanmar as a whole.” The new crewing office will now undertake all crew manning and departure arrangements on behalf of Norstar Ship Management in Singapore. Norstar currently operates a fleet of 19 mainly oil product and chemical carriers. The vessels are predominately manned by Myanmar officers and crew. The new office in Yangon commenced operations in February 2015 and is an extension of the Norstar Ship Management office in Singapore. Norstar has a pool of around 1,000 Myanmar seafarers making it already one of the largest crewing companies in Myanmar. The company has high retention rates which are expected to grow with the increased training and benefits now being offered to the seafarers and their families. Norstar Crew Management is also active recruiting local cadets from the Myanmar Maritime University and the Myanmar Maritime Mercantile College. Tom Bonehill added: “We are investing in Myanmar for the long term and wish to play an active role in the development of the maritime sector in the country. We are keen to explore the idea of setting up our own dedicated training centre here one day and this is something which is high on our agenda as our fleet grows and our operations expand. We intend to increase the recruitment of Myanmar seafarers to become one of the leading and preferred employers in Myanmar. Our focus will be on training crew and officers to the highest standards supplying seafarers to all sectors in the maritime industry.” To mark the official opening Norstar held a three day officers’ conference in Yangon prior to the official opening which was attended by around 200 clients, friends, staff and seafarers.

Emirates airline said it has had to change pilots and flight crews on US-bound flights to comply with President Trump’s new immigration restrictions. After Trump signed an executive order to ban citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US, the airline said it has had to make “the necessary adjustments to our crewing, to comply with the latest requirements,” What remains unclear for Emirates, and other international airlines, is if the order also affects dual citizen airline employees — those with one passport from a country on the ban list, and one with that is not on the list. ►Circle us on Google + http://goo.gl/TXeBfX ►Subscribe Channel http://goo.gl/mqt0wI ►Don't forget to Like * Comment * Share this video. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stay tuned, Stay connected

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, (VITM), Bangalore, India, a constituent unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya. The building, with a built up area of 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq ft), was constructed in Cubbon Park. It houses various scientific experiments and engines, and was opened by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 14 July 1962. The first gallery set up at VITM, on the theme of 'Electricity', was opened to the public on 27 July 1965. In order to honour Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, the All India Manufacturers’ Organisation, Mysore State Board, decided to set up a science and technology museum at Bangalore, and the foundation stone was laid by Shri B. D. Jatti, Chief Minister of Mysore, on 15 September 1958. The Visvesvaraya Industrial Museum Society (VIMS) came to be registered as the nodal agency in order to pool resources from various industrial houses. A building with a display space of 4,000 m2 (43,000 sq ft), which was constructed in Cubbon Park, houses displays of industrial products and engines. it was opened by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 14 July 1962. However, the society felt that the southern region lacked a science museum. The eastern region already had a science museum in Calcutta under CSIR, which was quite popular, and on the Society’s request CSIR took over VITM. The society nominated a permanent representative to the executive committee of VITM, and on 27 July 1965, VITM opened in Bangalore with the first gallery on the theme of ‘Electricity’. In the year 1970, VITM launched the Mobile Science Exhibition (MSE) with 24 participatory exhibits mounted on a bus. The MSE Bus travels throughout South India, and it continues to be a very effective tool for Science communication in the rural area as the bus carries with it a portable planetarium, telescope for night sky observations, HD large screen TV for science film shows in the evenings, materials for conducting popular science shows and demonstrations aimed towards the general populace. In 1978, the science museums/centres including VITM were delinked from CSIR and brought under a newly-formed society registered on 4 April 1978 as National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). In 1979, an extension was added to the building, increasing the total area of the museum to 6,900 m2 (74,000 sq ft). Air Dolomiti S.p.A. is an Italian regional airline with its head office in Dossobuono, Villafranca di Verona, Italy and operating base at Munich Airport, Germany. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa. Air Dolomiti operates a network of routes from several Italian destinations to and from Munich. Some of these services are sold under the Air Dolomiti brand while the others are part of Lufthansa Regional. Air Dolomiti was established in 30 December 1989 by the Linee Aeree Europee (L.A.E). The airline's name derives from the section of the Alps known as The Dolomites. It started airline operations in January 1991 with a Trieste-Genoa route and in 1992 started international services with flights from Verona to Munich. After several years of co-operation, Lufthansa acquired a 26% stake in January 1999 and increased it to 52% in April 2003 and 100% in July 2003. Since then Air Dolomiti has been controlled by Lufthansa as a member of Lufthansa Regional, a strategic cooperation between regional European airlines. The airline employed some 552 people at March 2007 and although most Lufthansa Regional subsidiaries operate under their parent's name and colours, Air Dolomiti retains its own identity. At one time the airline's registered office was in Dossobuono, Villafranca di Verona, while the airline's executive headquarters were in Ronchi dei Legionari. The E-190/195 models are a larger stretch of the E-170/175 models fitted with a new, larger wing, larger horizontal stabilizer and a new engine, the GE CF34-10E, rated at 18,500 lb (82.30 kN). These aircraft compete with the Bombardier CRJ-1000 and CS100, the Boeing 717-200 and 737-600, and the Airbus A318. It can carry 100 passengers in a two-class configuration or 124 in single-class high density configuration. The first flight of the E-190 was on March 12, 2004 (PP-XMA), with the first flight of the E-195 (PP-XMJ) on December 7 of the same year. The launch customer of the E-190 was New York-based low-cost carrier JetBlue with 100 orders and 100 options. British low-cost carrier Flybe launched the E-195 with 14 orders and 12 options. As the 190/195 models are of mainline aircraft size, many airlines operate them as such, fitting them with a business class section and operating them themselves, instead of having them flown by a regional airline partner.] For example, Air Canada operates 45 E-190 aircraft fitted with 9 business-class and 88 economy-class seats as part of its primary fleet. JetBlue and US Airways also operate the E-190 as part of their own fleet thus allowing airlines increased crewing flexibility by having the ability of air crews to work aboard narrow-body or widebody aircraft all the same.

A BPO worker was killed when a truck toppled over and crushed his office drop vehicle on Western Express Highway at Kandivli (East) late on Sunday. The driver of the Indica was seriously injured, but could be extricated from the mangled remains of the car after a multi-agency operation lasting hours. The deceased, Viren Damania (26), was to get engaged next month. He worked at Serco in Goregaon and lived in Kandivli with roommates. His brother lives in Vapi and his parents in Daman. Damania's shift at work ends at midnight. "On Sunday, he was the only occupant of the night drop vehicle, besides driver Ramesh Yadav (30). The Indica reached Bandongri bus stop on the north-bound stretch of WEH around 11.40pm. The truck, carrying several tons of tar, was moving along the same stretch. We suspect that its driver, Surendrakumar Barma, was speeding. He was possibly trying to change lanes when he lost control. The truck climbed over the divider and toppled over. Its back portion landed on top of the car. The Indica was completely crushed," said senior inspector Ravindra Patil of the Samta Nagar police station. Hundreds of locals gathered at the spot following the accident. Barma (30) fled, along with the cleaner of the truck. Cops from the police station, located a stone's throw away, reached the spot soon, but realised that moving the heavy truck was going to be impossible without machines. So, the traffic police and the fire brigade were called. Meanwhile, Yadav was trying to wriggle out of the trap. A few locals went up to him and started fanning him, keeping him engaged in conversation so that he did not pass out. "It took two hours for the police to get two cranes. The fire brigade assisted the crane operators in moving the truck. Then they cut through metal to extricate Yadav and Damania," said an eyewitness. Damania was pronounced dead at Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital around 2.30am. Yadav was admitted with fractures. "The police informed Damania's father, who called up relatives. We reached the hospital around 4.30am. The family is in shock. Everyone was looking forward to the engagement ceremony. Viren's fiancee is shattered," said a cousin of the deceased. Barma surrendered before the Dahisar police station before Monday noon. He was handed over to the Samta Nagar police and will be produced before a magistrate's court on Tuesday. He was booked on charges of negligence and rash driving under the IPC and under the Motor Vehicles Act. Forensic experts who conducted an autopsy on Damania said he suffered multiple burns and head injuries. He had joined Serco a few months ago. "This is an unfortunate incident and we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The car driver is critical and under medical supervision. We are deeply saddened by this incident," the company said in a statement. Barma was sent for a medical examination to determine if he was drunk at the time of the accident. The truck he was driving will undergo an RTO inspection.
